Mälardalsrådet - About the Council for the Stockholm-Mälar Region

The Council for the Mälar Region is a non-profit special interest organization for municipalities and county councils in the Stockholm-Mälar Region, which consists of the five counties of Stockholm, Uppsala, Västmanland, Södermanland and Örebro.

The Governing Board

The Council's operations are governed and coordinated by its Governing Board that lays out the mutual activities of the members and monitors the committees and the other cooperation groups. The Board is elected for a period of four years and consists of 18 members and 18 substitute members. A presiding committee that consists of the Chairman of the Board and four vice-chairmen leads the work of the Board.

Committees

The work of the council is divided between four different committees; Planning and traffic, Trade/Industry/R&D, Culture and Environment. Each committee work in close cooperation with the members of the council, as well as the council´s office.
